One Year Later...

This time last summer, I was on vacation with my boyfriend and other friends. Little did I know that during an early-morning walk, he would stop to ask me to be his wife. Seriously, I didn't expect it then. The even sweeter thing about our special moment was that it was captured for us by a stranger on the beach, (the only other person on the beach at the time) who just happened to be out early that morning, taking pictures of the sunrise. When she noticed what was happening, she seized the moment for a candid photography sessions. I don't really believe in "chance" or "coincidence;" I believe God placed that special lady on the beach that morning to provide us with images that we will cherish forever. In honor of our one-year-later moment, I thought I would share a few of those images with you here.

She did not get a picture of him kneeling on one knee. All of these followed that moment. But honestly, I'm glad she didn't get that shot; that image was just for me. I don't think I'll ever forget it. ;)

You can tell that she was gradually walking toward us as the images get closer. We had no clue she was around.

You have to love that "natural light."

I think I was in shock. Excuse the lack of makeup and very real just-rolled-out-of-bed look. Did I mention that I didn't expect anything other than a walk on the beach??? Do you believe me now?

Around this point, I caught a glimpse of someone over his shoulder. This lovely stranger, Mrs. Emily Doughty, who just happened to also be a Mississippi lady as well, was eager to share the images with us. Before the end of the day, we were all Facebook friends, and she emailed these incredible pictures to us as well. It's hard to believe that a year has already passed since this life-changing moment at the beach. It's really precious to be able to relive it all through these pictures. That morning was a blessing in so many ways, and these pictures were just a touch of added grace to a cherished moment.

We got married five months later, and so far, so good! I think I'll keep him...
